MCFA partner organisations

Euroscience

The Marie Curie Fellowship Association has close ties to the association Euroscience, which was founded in 1997 in order to:

  • Offer an open forum for scientists, representatives from industry and the general public interested in science and technology
  • Strengthen the links between European research and European society
  • Contribute to the creation of an integrated space for science and technology in Europe
  • Influence science and technology policies.
Euroscience is open to scholars, engineers and technicians from the public and entrepreneurial sectors, but also to any citizen interested in implementing societal demands on science and technology and monitoring the impact of science on society. The association has presently over 1250 members in 38 European countries. It operates by running Workgroups, setting up Regional Sections, and by providing expertise on request to Governments, Parliaments and the European Commission. For more information please consult the web pages at www.euroscience.org.

Fondation nationale Alfred Kastler

The Fondation nationale Alfred Kastler de l'Académie des Sciences has two primary goals. First, the Foundation strives to help foreign scientists have productive and pleasant stays in France by guiding them through the process of planning their trips; helping them with the initial difficulties of their stay, such as the red tape in obtaining visas and other documents, as well as with the practical problems of everyday live in a foreign country. Also, the Foundation endeavours to maintain contact with these scientists following their return home. The Kastler Foundation most often works with post-doctoral scientists and more senior visitors, but in certain cases it will be able to help doctoral candidates. The Kastler Foundation works with scientists of all nationalities and from the full range of scientific disciplines, from experimental to social sciences. For more information please consult the webpages at http://www.cnrs.fr/fnak/. An interview with Mr. Antony Mauvais, Secretary General of the Kastler Foundation that was published in the MCFA Newsletter of Summer 2001 can be found here

Eurodoc - The council for postgraduate Students and junior researchers in Europe

Eurodoc is the European PhD students and junior researchers council that was founded by the PhD student associations and unions of many European countries.

Eurodoc's main goals are:

  • to provide an official frame for the collaboration of Europe's doctoral/postdoctoral student unions
  • to represent the European doctoral and postdoctoral students at a European level towards political and administrative institutions
  • to be a discussion platform for doctoral students, senior scientists and science policy makers (discussing the current and future issues of science policy, and those of young scientists in particular, seen from the students' perspective).
The MCFA has started a collaboration with Eurodoc in the "Young scientists" working group, which was founded at the Euroscience/EARMA conference in Budapest in June 2002.

Pi-Net - The Postgraduates International Network

The MCFA has also started a collaboration with Pi-Net, which is as Eurodoc represented in the "Young scientists" working group, founded at the Euroscience/EARMA conference in Budapest in June 2002.
